France 24 is a French 24/7 news channel broadcasted in 3 languages.
When GEDEON was asked to do the overall brand redesign of France 24, the brief was to work on an evolution, not a revolution. We kept the initial blue. A 100% cyan blue, very specific, in order to help the news brand to differentiate from its competitors.
The other main point of the brief was "news coming from Paris". In fact, the channel is offering a French point of view, an alternative to Al Jazeera, CNN and BBC News channels. That's why we created a square wave (a mnemonic for the logo) radiating from Paris to all over the world. We used great views of Paris for the ad breaks and for some of the program openers. We also used shots including the Eiffel Tower in the set. We worked on an electro music, inspired by the "French touch”. At last, we created a brand new tagline : "Liberté, Egalité, Actualité (News)", directly inspired by the French motto .
